29" x 22" Fully framed.   Resined Latin American Tourist Art.  This one has a story.  This was originally a piece of Latin American Tourist Street Art.   Talk about what you can do with artistic ability, particle board, scrap wood, and old potato sacks.   These artisans would use particle board and electric grinding tools to carve the scene in relief.  Then they would add the traditional colors and details using paint to complete the scene.  The frames were constructed with whatever wood they found lying around and the band inside the frame looks to be old potato sacks.  When we found this piece the particle board was starting to degrade, the frame was splintered, and it was on the verge of being lost.   In order to stabilize this piece we did a deep pour (front and back of resin).  This thing is good for another few hundred years.    The deep resin finish highlights the high relief of the scene.  The ultra-high gloss finish is off-set by a gentle blue-green hue that gives the whole scene the feeling of being out of a dream.  It is a true delight to stare at.  Walnut Finish Frame  #resinart #art #latinart

It is really gratifying having the woodworking and the art come together. I made these two frames today. First one is made from leftover scrapes of African Mahagony finished with Tung Oil. The "TV Tray build" started to splice the joins and first sanding. These are the interfitting bases. I am going a bit over the top with cutting these Wedgewood splines about 5/8" thick. WhatI i am especially like about this piece was the way I used splines to connect the fabricated pieces. Rememeber no stains are used all natural colors.. And it is only finished in Tung Oil and hand paste wax.

This piece again fully frames. I made the frame out of furniture grade plywood so the corners came out perfect! That is stain, not paint believe it or not. I was inspired to do this one because of something I saw on #lauradesignshop. Looking at her cool work on wood furniture made me crave the feeling and texture of painting on wood. So I cut this "canvass" out of furniture grade plywood and primed it. Title. "The future of energy." Oil on wood with gold and silver leaf. Someday we will figure out how to harness the EMF that makes a compass point North.
